Call the insurance agents in your area...ask if they have a policy in your name. That doesn't require any legal thing. They'll tell you. |

Well, someone would have had to give blood and urine samples, to a paramedical examiner, after showing Id that looked like you. They ALSO would have had to sign off to release medical records.
It REALLY only happens in movies.
But, if you want to be sure, there is NO central database. But you can pay $75 to these guys http://www.mib.com/html/lost-life-insurance.html And they will run a report of all APPLICATIONS received on you, in the past ten years. And they'll give you the report. Then you can call any of the companies on the list and ask them if there's an active policy.
There won't be, and it will cost you $75 to find out, but at least you'll sleep better.
You can do that every year if you want. But really, it only happens that way in the movies. |

Depending on how old you are. I would think that a medical examination would be necessary before a policy could be taken out. Do you think that someone may want to harm you ?If that is the case and you have strong suspicions, why not have a talk with a law enforcement officer. They may have the wherewithal to find these things out. |

Try the MIB, but they only get a portion of the medical information on you and sometimes can't be relied upon. You do have to have blood and urine samples so you would know if a policy had been taken out. I guess a guaranteed issue policy application could have been forged by someone else etc, or someone could have purchased a life insurance policy on you when you were a minor that is still in existence, but both are unlikely.
You can get term life insurance quotes from different agents in your area by filling out a quote form at http://www.myinsurancequotes.net. Make sure you are getting the best deal because prices vary alot from company to company.

On the life insurance issue, you can't. Anyone can take out life insurance based on another person's life provided that they can show a financial reason at the time - so a creditor on a debtor's life, an employer on a key employee's life (and vice versa).
ON the identity theft issue that is a police matter and you should make a report to protect yourself. |
