There are a bunch of companies that specialize in people with DUI's, non-payment, and other things that make it more difficult to get car insurance. You're best bet is to look in your local yellow pages and try searching online. Get a bunch of quotes first before picking one. Catch is, all of them are going to charge you a much larger amount than a regular insurance company would. Funny thing about that, is they only act like a host, and you're still insured by regular companies like Allstate, etc.

Yes. Just stop around. Or call your insurance agent to reinstate the policy you had. If you keep what you had you may have loyalty discount you get to keep. Call and ask. |

Most insurance companies have a "reinstatement" period in which you can pay any past due, plus current due with a reinstate fee. This is your best way of getting reinstated. If your company does not do this, you may have to go high risk, start over with a down payment, then wait a year before qualifying into a preferred program. Try the reinstate first before paying the high rates of high risk insurance. |
