How can i get insurance against acts of god?

If by acts of God you mean lightning, wind, or hail your house will be covered by homeowners insurance. If you mean flood, however, you can only get coverage by purchasing a seperate flood policy, which is done through the government agency FEMA and is available through many different companies. I would recommend getting in touch with an independent insurance agent from your state to ask more questions.

What 'act of god' are you trying to cover?

Acts of God are usually what is covered. That would be lightning, hail, tornadoes, hurricanes, wind storms and stuff like that. What in particular are you needing coverage for?

Buffalo Boy
Act of God...is typically a nature related loss. Any Property & Casualty Insurance company will provide coverage for these types of losses. A Homeowners 3 or Special poilcy will addess this coverage. Speak to an Independent Insurance Agent for details...they can also service a flood policy through FEMA.

papeche
I don't beleive anyone covers that.

It depends on which act of God you are talking about. Here's an example that would be covered. Your neighbor's healthy tree is hit by lightning, it falls and hits your house. Your neighbors homeowners WOULD NOT pay, but yours would. Your neighbor is not liable because he is not negligent. The tree was healthy. On the other hand, if you see that the tree is rotting and you say to your neighbor - hey, thats dangerous and could cause damage and he refuses to take action - he is then liable because of negligence.

NY1Krr
Typically, you can't as the descrition is very vague. Some insurance companies use it to exclude them from covering crazy armageddon type of stuff.

When speaking to your agent ask them about what Comprehensive coverage will actually cover!!

"act of god" isn't an insurance term. I've read literally hundreds of policies, and have NEVER seen a reference to it.

You have to specify WHICH "act of god" (which, btw, is NOT a legally defined term) you want to insure against. Some are NOT going to be insurable.
