I'm not a fan of Universal Health Care but it has worked in other countries. The problem is the countries where it works are much smaller than 300 million people. And most of those countries are not capitalist like the good old USA. We are not fans of high taxes. Changing our system would be like turning an Aircraft Carrier around you can't do it very easily or quickly.

Well, our (U.S.A.) welfare system was created to help the poorest of the poor. It was done so with the optimistic idea of helping those in most need. Unfortunately, the system has been over-taxed and abused. Let's hope that doesn't happen with universal healthcare, as well. |

A lot of Americans seem to have the mistaken and utterly silly notion that other nations have "free health care." Nothing could be further from the truth, but some people don't want the facts. The costs of health care are rolled into much higher income tax and extremely high sales tax, to the extent that Americans would refuse to pay it. |

Because they don't want to be educated about how the real world works, and they don't want to know how well it's working in other countries. It's a "gimme gimme" attitude, voting in the politicians that will "dole out" the most/best benefits.
