Interesting. If you don't have car insurance, you don't drive. If you don't have health insurance, you can get messed up. If you believe that it is the responsibility of the state to look after the welfare of the citizens (what else is the purpose of the state anyway!), it is the failure of the state not to provide health care for all citizens. |

The thing with car insurance is if you crash into somebody, your insurance pays for their damages. If you crash into someone and have no insurance then a lot of problems arise. The situation is not the same with health insurance. |

When you people try to socialize healthcare there are a few repercussions. Such as the fact that going to the doctor will suck more than it does now. Waiting in line is bad enough without another 60 million people trying to jump in it. Secondly, no one will want to be a doctor anymore. The reasons doctors get paid well is because it's not a skill everyone has. When the government takes over and decides to pay doctors next to nothing there will be no doctors to provide services as they'll all go into more lucrative fields with less liability.
Didn't anyone read the Wall Street Journal article where some people calculated the costs of going to a universal type healthcare plan in Wisconsin and found that it at least doubled taxes? Guess people would rather live in the streets because they pay 2-3x taxes they do now but get "free" healthcare. |

Because they have not chosen to purchase it. Car insurance is required because an accident can injure others; health insurance is not because you don't injure others when you become ill. Note that the required car insurance is only liability; you can buy collision insurance or not as you see fit. |

Only car liability insurance is required by law. Collision and comprehensive are required only by the lender and are optional after the loan is paid.
Insurance to cover your own health is analogous to insurance to cover damage to your own car, which the government does not require, not to liability insurance, which covers damage to someone's car or body.
Car liability insurance would be analogous to requiring insurance to cover the medical bills of someone else who you infect or injure, but not your own medical bills. |

Well, I live in Massachusetts and ex-governer, presidential contender, worth 250 mill- 500 mill, Mitt Romney passed a law requiring all MA residents to have health insurance by 12/07 or face financial penalties. We should just shoot people that don't have health insurance attitude. How about taking all the money wasted on the US overbloated military and putting it into healthcare. Today, Bush asked for another 50 Billion for Iraq. What if 50 Billion was put into free dental centers, yes I think dental care is part of health care, but greedy dentists wont want to be part of regulation. It is true people die in this country from infected teeth! Yet we have Billionaires that can buy 50 jets without feeling it. Such BS. Yo, Bill Gates it is great you are helping out Africa healthcare but the US has a healthcare epidemic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!A lot of really stupid people running this country. |
