Because the punishment doesn't fit the crime. In my local paper a couple of weeks ago an offender was fined £200 and penalty points. Its cheaper to get fined. These kind of people just don't give a toss. |

2) For some, driving without insurance is cheaper, even after paying the fine when getting caught.

I'll analize for you
1)pass test and get driving licence =£100>£2,000
2)buy car tax and insure=£1,000>£20,000
then pay silly money in insurance every year
OR buy a car for £500 drive until caught get points on licence we don't have and a paltry fine
Now I don't claim to be an accountant but i can see the logic. |

They are driving illegally. This is why most insurance companies offer you, the responsible driver, Uninsured Motorist coverage - in the event someone without insurance hits you. Because God knows you won't get any money out of them. |

Top 10 reasons why people drive without care insurance

2. The state he lives in does not enforce the law - Ohio if you get caught without proof of insurance you loose your liscens - you must have proof in the car otherwise.
3. You will see more shortcuts and people cutting corners on their finance as the country sinks deeper into this depression because of oil prices and conspicuous consumption. These people feel it is better to eat then have auto insurance
4. They are exceptionaly good drivers and will never have an accident.
5. There car is worth less then the monthy insurance premiums.
6. They have no health insurance because again they would rather eat then have health care insurance, so - being injured is in an accident they have a 50/50 chance of having coverage at the expense of others who do have comprehensive insurance. And to boot, why have health insurance if you can not afford to pay for the prescriptions.
7. They feel most people have uninsured motorist insurance.
8. They have no future, no retirement plan the stock market has seen to that so why worry about insurance and getting sued as you can't get blood from a turnip as they say.
9. They are young dumb and full of ....as well as ten feet tall and bullet proof. Only the old need worry about such things.
10. It is more important to have (pay for) a cell phone so that you can stay in touch with your local meth dealer then it is to eat and have insurance. |

Its amazing the sorts of tossers who knock about isnt it? These people are scum in my opinion. They do it because they think they wont get caught.....The only people who suffer for their tosserness are those whos premiums go up and the victims (in accidents) who cant claim against them....WANKERS! ( I hope an uninsured driver reads this) |

normally no tax and no insurance and either a nicked car or one they got cheap , they seem to think they are above the law but you're the ones that have to pay when they crash into you |

because they are illegal aliens, like the *beeeeeeeeeeP* that reversed onto the hood of my car with a landscape pickup truck. He told me he didnt have insurance on him for some reason so I left him closed off in a parking lot until the police came..and then they found out he was uninsured. It is illegal to drive without insurance (at least in NYState), but people do it by getting a car, applying for insurance to get a liscence, then getting rid of their insurance plan almost immediately. |

well, people do all sorts, they also rob banks and murder other people.
As per the tax disc, sometimes you can buy a car that comes with a full tax disc or they might tax their car with an insurance that's just about to expire and that's how they have a tax disc. |

Unfortunately some people in this country (i am assume you are talking about the UK) don't give two hoots for anyone else. The law in this country doesn't exactly help, what is a £200 fine and six points on your licence when a) you (not you personally) don't have one in the first place? b) if you get caught once or twice a year it still works out cheaper for some drivers. Judges and the CPS should not b so lenient on these crooks, so what if they can not afford the fine!!!!
And correct you can not legally obtain road tax without providing a certificate of motor insurance. If the car is over 3 years old you also need an MOT to get the disk. |

because they are stupid, but also because they dont want to pay the high costs,my insurance costs me £105 per month and that's cheap!.
and no they might have a tax disc if they paid 6 months or a year in advance before they stopped paying insurance but it would be invalid once they failed to make the insurance payments. |
