OK, does that mean they don't OFFER group health, or you just can't afford it? Assuming you're under 30 and healthy, health insurance IS going to cost around $250 a month. That's just what it costs.
If Albertsons doesn't offer you access to their group plan, you can get an individual plan from a local, independent agent. And NO ONE can live off of part time work, so you're going to have to get a second part time job. |

Here is my advise...Get a job that pays better. Get a job selling health insurance. I am an insurance agent in south carolina and its not rare to make 4,000 a week selling health policies. You can sell one policy a month and make more than you are now. Get a better job and afford better benefits. |

Contrary to the answer posted by "mbrcatz17", individual health insurance does NOT need to cost $250/month if you are young and reasonably healthy. There’s a company about to launch in Texas called Precedent that offers plans under $100 per month. Check out details at http://www.precedent.com |

you can always try applying for medicaid or go to free clinics in your area. check with your local human services department. I do know of an alternative solution that you might consider. It's called Ameriplan Health. It's a premier discount benefits program that's very affordable. For $49.95 a month it covers an individual and it includes Dental, Vision, Chiropractic and Prescription. All that for that same low price. This program covers everything, even pre existing conditions. There is no age limit either.

Get on a COBRA plan or see if you can qualify for Medicaid.
Best bet for long-term is to go to school so that you can get hired full-time and have health insurance when you start your first job after graduation.
