How do I Opt-out of my employers Health Insurance plan?
I can be covered by my spouse's health insurance plan and it is much cheaper than what I have with my employer. Do I need some kind of legal letter or can I simply write a short letter of my own?
You have to wait until the open enrollment period, to get out of it.

In order to protect themselves most employers will have a release form that you can sign off on the health insurance.

Go to your HR person and tell him/her that you have enrolled in your spouse's plan, and you do not want to participate in your company's plan. They may want you to sign a form waiving your participation.
Some employers pay people extra if they don't participate in the health plan, because the company saves a lot of money.

health care is a great benefit offered by your employer, but if you are going to opt out, do it how ever they suggest, but do not cut yourself short on your benefits.
IE. if they were to be paying in $120.00 a month on your health insurance benefits, try to get that in your take home instead, or added to your pention, no reason you should be penalized for not using their health plans as one of your benefits, right?
