I want to start my own independent insurance company, or at least become an independent agent for an established company. Where do I start?
What's your backround? Do you have the experience? Can you move a book of business?

It's very expensive. You need a license to become an insurance underwriter. I'm not sure you can get your answer here.

Get licensed. Then find a company willing to let you sell their insurance. Progressive is the easiest, but they only do auto. Finding a homeowners carrier is all about networking, and it's HARD.
