Check the Will if there was one.
Check the deceased's mail. Until a death claim is made the company won't know she's gone. If the policy is still in force chances are premium payments will eventually bounce and letters will be sent.
Check the deceased's bank records. If premiums are being paid by PAC it would show up on bank statements which company the insurance is with.
Once you find out if she had one and what company, just phone the company with the name, date of birth and any other info you have and they can track down who her advisor was and get the claim rolling. |

The executor of her estate can go through her cancelled checks to see what company she was paying. 70% of people in the USA die without active life insurance in force, so most likely, she doesn't have any.
If she DID have it, she'd have had to PAY for it, hence looking through cancelled checks.
If you're asking, is there a state agency that collects that information, the answer is no. And there isn't any database where you can look it up.

If other family or relatives do not know if she had a policy, then I would suggest going through her old paperwork. If she had one, then she would be paying a premium on it.

The only way to know is go through her paperwork. You can also call her car insurance company to ask them. |
