The only way when you are getting insurance, make sure you do this IN ADVANCE (when you put in the bid & it is sigend), the company will likely run a CLUE report. This will give the dates, types of damages and amounts paid for any losses to the house. If the losses were not paid by insurance (the prior owner paid out of pocket), nothing will be there. Then, if you want to know who filed the claim (if the ownership has changed a few times in the last few years), go to your town or county clerk & look up the deed & see who owned the house. That is public record. |

when you place insurance on the home your agent can run a clue report on that address and it will pull up claims on that property for the past 3-5 yrs. |

Well, there is, but probably not for you. The new insurance company can run a CLUE report, which will pick up any losses at the old house - but that report is subject to privacy laws, and can't be released to you, the homeowner.
But if there is a problem, your agent will come back to you, and ask you to ask the seller for clarification on the problem. |

there is not currently an outlet for that type of information. insurance companies have a combined file on everyone that has ever had insurance that they share between each other, but without working for one of them, you would have no access to this information. |

dunno22222222222222222, Home insurance covers lots of different things. I'm not familiar with all the fine print of my home policy, but my home insurance agent is always helpful.
