There is really no good insurance agent. All they want to do is sell you the most expensive insurance product so that they can reap all the commissions out of you.
To overcome these agents, I would question everything and ask about other products. Then do your own research about those products and see which one is better for you. |

Try asking your friends for their advice. As such it depends what you are trying to insure. Geico, Statefarm, Farmers insure most of the stuff I can think of (cars, rental etc.). All of them have websites and you may want to get a quote or find a few agents near your house to contact for quotes.
Do contact a few of them since quotes can vary quite a bit. Stay away from the "comparison shopping" insurance websites. They take too much time ... its simpler to just stick with the big names in the business! |

Pick an insurance agent that is independent and is willing to go to bat for you in the case of a loss. There is no use in paying for insurance if you aren't going to be indemnified in the case of a loss. If you are in Illinois or Indiana call me.

Depends on what kind of insurance you are looking for. First, be sure they are licensed. How long have they been in the business? If not very long, what about any partners which would help the agent? New agents are not bad, however, they may not be aware of all the options in case design. Are they educating you or pressuring you. Ask friends and family.
