If you are military then you can add her if she is your dependent (lives with you and recieves more than half her support from you). You have to go to your tricare office and fill out a short form that takes like 2 minutes. |

As a dependent? You can't. Dependents are limited to spouses and underage children, and in some states, domestic partners. |

Tricare is the one of the most discrimintory insurances out there. Ironic how it was developed by those whom make the laws. Sorry had to get that off my chest as a former man in uniform.
You are out of luck, there is no insurable interest for tri-care to cover your mother-in-law regardless of the circumstances. She needs to find access to gov't based insurance or start liquidating assets in order to pay for healthcare expenses. Uncle Sam will not start picking up the bills until her financials have dissolved including all assets that can be turned into cash.
The uninsured is a concern and your mother-in-law unfortunetly is a victim of not planning for the unpredictable. She is not alone. |

It's not Tricare being discriminatory - NO health insurance will let you add parents to the policy. ONLY spouses and children, or legal dependents such as a child you have guardianship over. |

This is bull, i have the same problem with my mom, they won't let me enroll her in tricare. No shit, I got her an ID card just to shop at the commissary, the PX and the Shoppette.. |
