If your father passed away very recently, as the funderal director for copies.
As for the will, does he have an attorney??
First , check his house. he may have it there.

If he has just passed away then the Doctor confirming his death will provide a certificate of death that must be registered at the local registrars office

If it is a while ago then a copy of the death cert will be at the local registrars of where he dies

The will should be obtainable from whoever holds it if it hasnt been dealt with yet (solicitor family member etc)

Or if it has been read out then you have to apply for a copy of the will from the local Probate Office...address found in telephone directory

You can get a copy of the death certificate from the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages and as far as I understand the Probate Office will have a copy of the Will

Believe it or not - These are both public documents so you could view them at the Office of statistics or the local clerk's office. They generally have to be filed within 60 days of death

His death certificate can be ordered online via several websites, including 1837 online (or whatever its new name is). His will will only be a public document if it went to Probate. You can get a copy via the Probate Registry website.
Both incur small costs.

I am not sure about your will but, you may want to contact your lawyer, about any details involving your family. You will need to go to The Bureau of Vital Statistics Office located in the downtown Los Angeles Federal Building. You may need to call ahead first to ask what type of documents you need to take with you in order; to obtain a "Death Certicate". Good luck! "God Bless you and your family".
