yadelyodel | How does Geico offer low rates with all the $ spent on ads? |
We see the gecko ad, the various caveman ads, and other ads from Geico blitzing us at all times. How can they offer more competitive rates than other insurance companies if they spend all that money on advertising? |

Because GEICO is owned by Berkshire Hathaway and Warren Buffett is a genius and making money. I have no idea who came up with the ad campaign or how they pay it but Warren Buffett has never owned a company that I know of that didn't make money.
In my experience however, GEICO does not have the lowest rates. At least the couple times I got a quote from them, they were always higher. |

They cherry pick their clientele of "safe" drivers. When they aren't having to pay out claims, they can spend it on advertising and padding the salaries of the management. |

Geico is just one of the many companies owned by Berkshire-Hathaway, you know, Warren Buffet, the second richest man in America. |

Volume. A company like that cannot afford not to advertise. I believe they have a more streamlined way of doing business as far as agents go. They are after market share and once you start paying for insurance with them they hope to keep you. I bet they are doing just fine. |

Easy, they have so many people who are buying policies that they have enough for ads and investments. It also helps that the company invests the premiums very well and make a great ROI. In addition the spokesperson is a gecko how much money could it cost to hire him? :) |

In my experience, GEICO has NOT offered the lowest rate. In fact, last time I searched for car insurance there were a couple companies that gave me lower quotes... Progressive ended up being the cheapest. |

If you're a Geico customer, YOU'RE paying for those commercial, bud. |

Geiko does not have to pay agents. Also they are not actually low. I pay much less with State Farm. |

Geico tends to aim at the "minimum liability" set. That means, your insured has an accident, you can just write the check for the policy limit and not worry too much about quibbling - frequently the damages are well over the policy limit, but they're off the hook once the limit is reached.
That massively saves claims and adjusting costs, not to mention litigation. |

They are like costco - everyone knows about them and everyone shops there - They have millions of customers..so they can offer lower rates |
