It will make the insurance go up on your next renewal. It will depend on how many points the ticket is, the more points, the higher the insurance will go. The "insurance" points are similar to the license points, but not for everything (tickets like DWI & driving without insurance are different). Also, it will stay on your insurance for 3 full years (will come off on the renewal AFTER the ticket becomes 3 yrs old). Most companies go by the posting date of the ticket, not the actual date you received the ticket. When I lived there, an at fault accident was 5 insurance points, if you got traffic violations totalling 4 points and an at fault accident within 3 years, you risk losing your insurance (due to 9 insurance points) and having to go to the assigned risk which is even more expensive. So, be careful!! |
