check and see what the policy is on prexsisting injuries the surgey may not even be covered if the accident happened before coverage. |

Make sure the policy won't consider it to be pre-existing. You should try to keep the coverage, though. |

if you cannot afford insurance and are no longer covered under your parents, apply for medical coverage with the state. you may qualify. medicare provides so many stickers for service a month continuously. it would not hurt to try. that is what it is there for. normally if you are attending college, you can still be covered under your parent's insurance. did you ask for them to extend you on their coverage? |

It won't work. All individual policies will ask if you have impending surgery and will decline to accept you if you do. If you "forget" to mention it on the application they will rescind the policy and they have the option of charging you with insurance fraud.
As another answerer said you could apply for your state's Medicaid (not Medicare) insurance if your income and assets are low enough to qualify. |

Had I been the owner of a insurance company I will never go for such a loss.
Because every company has been formed with some mission and vision and quiet obvious profit is the motive,
so every medical insurance company will ask for the past health history as well as after taking the insurance there is some waiting period which will not let you to successfully pay from the insurance corpus but all from your own pocket. |
