How long do you have to be at a job before you can leave and get COBRA continuation on your health insurance?
I am miserable at work, but I would like to be able to keep the insurance, even though I'll be paying more for it. I've had insurance coverage from the very first day, if that makes a difference.
There's no minimum time limit. As long as your employer is subject to Cobra, and you had coverage in force the last day you worked, you can elect Cobra coverage.
I'm glad you're aware that you'll be paying more for it - the average Cobra cost for an individual, is $350 a month.

There is no time requirement, however make sure that your employer is subject to COBRA requirements by having more than 20 employees on a typical business day. Also, I think that a qualifying event is that you must be terminated, and not just quit. However I have been thumbed down for posting this before. Maybe I'm wrong (happened once before). Below is a link to the regulation.

If you are enrolled in the health plan. Then you can get COBRA offered to you. There is no time length. It doesn't affect the company too much. Because you will be paying for the full premium.
