It sounds to me like you are talking about Life Insurance. With Accidental Death and Dismemberment, there are a lot of things to look at to see if you are even getting the Death Benefit. It has SO many exclusions to it. Such as the person who has passed away MUST of died of a ACCIDENT, not of ANY natural causes! Very dangerous policy to have, that's why they are SO cheap, because they are no risk to the company-- the company rarely has to pay them out to the clients. Futhermore the exclusions are usually you must lose one limb and sight of one eye,etc,etc,etc. It's a very bad option for Life Insurance. Life Insurance should work as you pay your premiums, no matter how you die (unless typically suicide in the first 2 years) WE PAY!
If you had someone pass away I would check into seeing if you even get the Death Benefit, it also could be just a portion of what you though it was. In other words you have 250,000 of Life Insurance but 200,000 of it was AD&D so if the person who passed away died of natural causes, beneficary gets 50,000. And that's best case! Because a lot of times it's all AD&D. |
