If the policy has been in force long enough to be non-contestable, and the death isn't suspect, about 2-4 weeks.
If it's contestable, or the beneficiary is suspected of being involved in causing the death, it can take a long time.

That depends on the circumstances involved in the death.
If the death is considered natural, and the death certificate indicates this, it is usually paid out within a month.
Sometimes, the beneficiary still has to be interviewed if the amount is a large amount, which will delay the process.

You can contact the company and make sure you get the correct person and address to summit death certificate. After they receive death certificate and they are satisfied-you can ask when check will be mailed. They will not tell you who the benefits will be paid too. Good luck!

it gets even longer if your policy includes an accidental rider. just an advise, make sure you submit all the required documents.
