How long does it take to recieve life insurance money?

Reason I ask is because the funeral was a little over a month ago and since I didn't have $5k then and they knew my father had life insurance they said they would wait 2 months before I would have to pay. Getting close to 2 months and I mailed the insurance papers off a little over 2 weeks ago with the death certificate and still haven't recieved a check.

If you've submitted all the necessary documents and submitted the information as requested.....
Your cheque is in the mail....you'll get it on Friday.
There are procedures that have to be followed, i's to be dotted, t's crossed, then it is rechecked then sent off for approval then to processing then final approval for payment.
The last thing that has to be done is to make sure the correct postage is on the envelope.
Ooooooops....we've run out of stamps!!!
Perhaps you should have sent your blank cheque with VOID marked on it and it would have been Direct Deposited yesterday.

Actually if the policy was over 2 years old when your father passed away, it should only take 2 to 3 weeks for processing and delivery. You may want to give them a call and see. Sometimes things can go wrong and unless you ask you will never know.

If the policy was over 2 years old and his death was not associated with any crime then it should only take a few weeks. Some companies process that stuff faster than others, but that is pretty normal.

If the policy was less than 2 years old or his death was involved in a crime then the insurance company has the right to review the case to make sure there was not any fraud or misrepresentation involved. This can take several months to clear up and depends largely on how quickly the beneficiary and the insurance company communicate back and forth and how stubborn the medical facilities are with providing health records.

You might want to call the claims department at the company to verify that they have received your forms and ask them when they expect to send you your check.

call them....should be 2-4 weeks tops which means it's almost there, but call instead of waiting.

2-3 weeks after all the paperwork has been received, the beneficiary of the policy should receive the check.

So, as you only mailed the papers off two weeks ago, they probably got them, maybe a week and a half ago. You're probably looking at another week or so, before the beneficiary receives the check. I hope that's you.
