weevil | How long should an insurance claim take to resolve from begining to end? |
|
|

 |
What sort of claim is it?
Basically though as others have said it depends on the complexity of the loss, how long it takes to substantiate the loss and put either a value on on the item or arrange repairs. If you not happy with the length of time, firstly complain to the insurer - they will have deadlines under the FSA to answer your complaint and if you're still not happy then take it to the Financial Ombudsman to resolve. |

Depends! There are claims that take half an hour to settle, there are claims that take years! Company, specific matteer in hand, local law, place for adjudication, extent of claim......so many variables! |

How long is a piece of string?
It depends on the complexity of the claim |

This depends on the complexity of the claim.
Some claims can be settled in days. And if they are that simple, the insurance companies would rather pay them off than delay, because delay just adds more cost.
Some claims are very complex and may take over a year to evaluate, even if there is no contesting the cost.
If the claim has to go to court... it can take many years. These are not over until either party quits fitghting, ot the US Supreme court (in the US...) rules. |

In a utopian world two weeks.
Unfortunately we do not live in Utopia and although I have had an insurance claim resolved in three weeks, I have also seen an insurance claim take over a year and heard of many that have taken longer. |
