Jules R | How much are people paying for home insurance these days? |

I pay around £20 a month for contents only (its a rented property so the landlord pays buildings).
Covers everything to a value of £35,000, with 0 excess, items taken outside the home, credit cards etc for identity fraud.
I think its actually quite good value really. Well worth it for the peace of mind! Imagine how you would cope if you had a fire and lost everything with no insurance. I can't imagine what you would do, with no home, no clothes, no posessions etc. Would take years and years of hard work and savings.
Same if your computer was stolen for example, would be quite difficult to replace without insurance, and would mean scrimping and saving.
I`d rather fork out £20 a month, and know that if anything really bad happened, I`d at least be able to start again soon after. It would be horrendous, but nowhere near as bad as being left with nothing, and no money to replace anything.
For me insurance is always a priority which comes before luxury items that people have such as satellite tv etc. Its not that expensive and well worth it!
Yes, you may never need to claim, so the money is effectively being spent on nothing, but then its your whole life you're gambling with! I would rather shell out a small amount and be covered... just in case! |

Too little information to give a good answer. Few listed their actual coverage limits. The building and contents are just the beginning of coverage. You need to also consider your liability coverage, location (Country, State, County, City). These all have a large effect on your insurance premium.
Call a local agent and talk with him/her about your specific needs. The agent will be able to work with several companies and get you the best insurance to match your needs. Note: I did not say the best price, I said the best insurance. Insurance is just like everything else in this world, you get what you pay for!
Good Luck! |
