Not sure if it's the same wherever you are, but where I am an exam costs around $60, 6 month supply of monthly contact lenses (fair quality brand) costs about $140, and glasses could cost a little or a load depending on your prescription. Lots of sales that go on though, so keep an eye out for those :)

contact lens' are much more expensive than glasses because you have to get a new pair every 2 weeks and 3 pair costs' about $55 the exam is about $25 but to get glasses one pair is $100 and they can last forever
