The way it was explained to my husband by his lawyer is
1K for the tip
5K for the 1st knuckle
10K for the 2nd knuckle
100K for the 3rd knuckle
That was about 13 years ago. |

How much was your finger worth to you? Probably more if you're single.
Ask for $1.00 to show that it's absurd to put a price tag on your finger. It opens the door to selling organs and other parts if dollar values are so easily assigned.

your attorney is the only one that can really do the research to see what related cases settled for. that is exactly what you pay him or her for.
anyone saying anything else here is just making stuff up ans should not be relied upon. |

Was this work related, or not?
As a teacher, it's not going to affect your job performance, so if this is workers comp, you'll only get future medical bills. You'll have to type and lift things with your other fingers.
If it's not workers comp, sorry, it's still not worth that much from a pain and suffering point of view . . . but with lots of medical bills, there might not be much left for pain & suffering.
Sorry, it's just not as bad as losing your whole arm.

If the accident happened on the job, there are two insurance claims you could make; one is Workers' Comp., the other is with your or school's liability policies.
In both cases, you need to hire a lawyer, not Yahoo Answer. Insurance company has many lawyers on payroll just to alleviate the amount of payment or avoid payment altogether. This is not a kind of thing you try to work out on your own against those experienced insurance company reps or its lawyers. |
