$6,000 to $10,000, depending on your location. You should call a local funeral home and ask them - that's the only way to be sure what prices are for your area.
One thing to consider: The cost of a funeral is one thing, but you will still have to think about the cost of a plot, headstone, and a fee to open the grave prior to the burial. Most cemetaries offer a discount if you purchase everything "pre-need", but if you wait until someone needs it, then you'll pay top dollar for sure.
Horrible to have to think about such things, isn't it. But if you're factoring costs to purchase life insurance, be sure to contact your local cemetary for their rates as well.

Ask your pastor what the funeral service costs. MOST of the cost would be if you want a burial - the preparation of the body, purchase of casket and gravesite are the MOST expensive part.
You can get a quote accurate to your area, from a local funeral director.
A pretty spiffy funeral is going to run about $8K in most places. A bare bones, cremation one, can usually be done for well under $1,000. |
