I am a female. I am in the age range of 20-25. I want $100,000 worth of coverage. I smoke, but I have no other health issues. How much would it cost me? Also, how much would it cost me for a $500,000 policy?
The same for age group 40-50?

How much do you weigh? What kind of policy do you want? If you're a healthy weight, $100,000 of 20 year term will likely cost you $250 a year, as a cigarette smoker.
If you want whole life, it would probably cost you $2500 a year - $200 a month.
If you were 40 - 50 , healthy weight, and perfectly healthy (which would be very unusual), it would probably cost you $2,000 a year. Whole life, maybe $400 a month.
Those online quote places, harvest your information, and sell it to agents as leads.
You can get an ACCURATE quote, by going to see a local agent.

It really depends on the company and how gullible one is to upselling.
I have a very excellent group rate at about $40/month for $250k, I'm 40 and male.
Your best bet it too call around and ask for ball park numbers and then go visit the best 2 or 3 offers and get a firm number.
Stay away from whole life policies. Ask for term life insurance. |

Call around and get some free quotes from live insurance agents.
You can get a policy now as a smoker and if you quit later you can reapply as a non-smoker. Start with the company that you have auto insurance with. If they offer life insurance you would get a discount on the car insurance for taking life insurance with them.
Since your young the premiums are still cheap. And, take the term. You get a lot more insurance for your dollar. |

Depends on what you want. I would buy term at this point, term which is convertible to permanent. You quit the cigs you can get a lower rate. You could also call a local agent and ask how much insurance you can get with a "non-medical" application. That means no exam. Nobody can check.
Smoking pretty much doubles your cost of life insurance. I would try to sneak around the issue. There is a two year contestable period so beyond that time no claim would be denied if you passed away. |
