I am unsure by the wording of your question whether this involves a group life insurance policy, or another product. My answer will assume this involves a life policy.

Some group life policies require employees to work full time in order to maintain coverage; others don't. This may or may not be affected by the laws of the state where the employer is based.

I suggest you contact your state insurance commissioner's office and file a complaint. Your complaint will be investigated and, if the claim was denied improperly, your insurance commissioner should have the authority to order restitution (i.e. payment in equal amount to the death benefit plus interest). You could also contact an attorney at this point, but this will be costly. I suggest you let your insurance commissioner's office look into it first.

You have to verify service conditions of the company.There may be minimum service for death benefits to accrue.The provident fund,gratuity and other benefits are payable company as per local labour laws.You have to consult an advocate who is dealing in labour laws.Good Luck

im so sorry to hear that. i think u need to make appointment at job center plus and find out whats going on? they might help coz they knw legal stuff of course! and they can guide u along. good luck and hope ur ok.

Get a lawyer now and go over it with a fine tooth comb. I believe the owe you that benefit. Go see or write to your congressmen or women and advise them what happened and I assure you sometime will happen. I can't believe in this day and age that a company would do something that stupid.
