In Texas the minimum requirements for liability are 25/50/25. This insurance will cost you about $25 a month.

In Texas all you need to carry is liability insurance. Any insurance agent will be able to write a policy to cover you, however, the rates can vary considerably so some comparison shopping could save you some money. |

Minimum in TX is 25/50/10.
BUT, if you're LEASING a car, the leasing company will require you to carry at least 100/300/100, AND collision and comprehensive on the car.
If you want to carry minimum coverage, buy a $500 clunker. If you finance or lease a car, you'll have to buy A LOT of coverage, to comply with the financing.
And, leasing is probably the WORST way to get wheels. They call them "fleeces" for a reason!! You pay TWICE the depreciation - you're effectively paying for the car over five years, and then, you own NOTHING. But you'll have to pay massive insurance rates, and pay the leasing company if you have put more than 50K miles, and pay them for any body damage.
It's a bad, bad financial deal. RUN THE NUMBERS. If you lease, you'll regret it in the long run. |
