Divorce is considered a qualifying event for COBRA coverage. There are other requirements for COBRA to apply. Please review the website I have referenced for more information.

If your husband's employer is required to offer COBRA, then divorce would be a qualifying event and you should be eligible.
Just remember that not all employers are required to offer COBRA. (The federal Department of Labor is where to look for information as to what employer have to offer COBRA and what your rights are.)

Unless you have preexisting conditions COBRA will be very expensive. You'll be much better off just buying a policy on your own. Mercy Health and Blue Cross/Blue Shield have many different policies

I presume that you are covered under your husband's insurance policy? If so, then you should be able to convert your insurance coverage to an individual policy but it is EXPENSIVE. You might be able to contact the insurance company to ask about it but do not let the insurance lapse before you settle up on a new policy!!

COBRA is continuation of benefits to businesses with over 20 Employees. You can keep your benefits for at least 18 months as long as you pay 100% of your portion of the premium (+ an extra 2% if your former employer wants to)
Many states have under 20 "Continuation" laws, like Missouri, we have a maximum of 9 months for employers under 20.
If you are on his "Individual" policy, then you'll have to get your own insurance (do it fast)!
