Amica is an excellent company, as are Liberty Mutual and State Farm. Geico is also a good company, but I really prefer to have a local agent, as they can often get things done in your favor when there's leeway.
It doesn't surprise me that a lawyer is slamming State Farm for not paying No-Fault claims. In my fifteen years with them I never, ever had a complaint about them not paying for medical bills, lost wages or any of the other things actually covered under no-fault coverage.
I have many issues with Allstate, which I won't go into, but I'd stay away from them and Progressive. They both have coverage limits/exclusions in their policies I don't like.
Whatever you do make sure you are getting quotes for comparable coverages. There's a great blog post series that walks you through the auto insurance buying process that is very helpful. I linked to the first article in the series below. |

There are several good companies. Keep in mind that rates can vary hundreds of dollars from one consumer to the next for the same company.
As far as which one is the best for you really depends on a number of things such as age, location, driving record, etc, etc. The only real way to find out which company is best for you is to comparison shop. The more quotes that you get the more likely that you will find the best company for you.
The easiest way of getting rates from multiple local agents and companies that do business in your area is to use some of the more reputable free on line quoting services. These services will forward your information to agents and companies who subscribe to their service. You only have to fill out a simple quote request on line and they take care of the rest. By using several of these services you increase the amount of quotes that you will receive.
You can get a list of these services at http://www.InsuranceEasy.org simple go to the auto insurance section of their site and click on the links that they provide. Also prior to requesting quotes I would also suggest taking the time to read a one page e-article at http://www.saving-hundreds-of-dollars-on-insurance.com/ this article gives some pretty common sense suggestions on how to save money. |

GEICO advertises that they can cut your car insurance almost in half. I didn't believe it, but it was worth a call. They did! My insurance was cut by 44% - I was amazed.
I had an accident claim my first year with them. I swerved too far to the right to avoid an oncoming car that was over the line and scraped the car against something. The oncoming car didn't stop, and there were no witnesses. For some reason, it cost a whopping $1600 to fix the scratch and dent, but GEICO promptly paid and didn't raise my insurance.
This year, my insurance with them went up - only $24.
I'm pretty satisfied!
And I love their gecko. Pie and chips, mate! |

Go with GEICO. they have good rates and are fair about paying claims. Whatever you do, stay away from State Farm. They refuse to pay no-fault benefits and always allege some sort of fraud to get out of paying. They will either allege a staged accident or that your doctor is not really a doctor or some other similar type of crap.
Allstate is not good about paying claims either, although they are nowhere nearly as bad as State Farm. They just have "no-pay" desks, where claims are randomly routed, and those claims will not be paid voluntarily. |

At this time that is one of the toughest question on here! If I were shopping for Insurance at the moment, I would be looking at Insurance companies that report their P&L in a publication - I would be looking at the solid companies like State Farm, Farmers, Allstate (although Allstate coverage is somewhat questionable to me)...I would carefully review the policy and its coverage and limits...sometimes the limits are more important than the coverage. Great question! |
