summer | I'm looking for a health plan, with low monthly payments? |
neither my or my husbands job offer health insurance, so we are looking into private plans like Blue Cross Blus Shield. I am 28 and hubby is 29 and we have a 2 year old.
The quotes we've received would be about $350 a month, and the thing is it will be for a $4-5000 deductible. we are healthy and only use doctors for the well-child checkups....
i would like to get pregnant sometime soon, so i want a plan with good pre-natal coverage, but again, don't want to pay such a high monthly rate.......any suggestions for other companys or plans...thank you! |

Check out ehealthinsurance.com. They have other carriers like Goldenrule, Atena and more. You can compare and pick what coverage you want, what deductable, co-pays, etc. Good luck. |

My advice is to meet with an independant agent near you. He can locate the plans that will meet your medical and financial needs the best. I'm sure you are aware that maternity coverage will cost you much more in premiums AND you will have to have the policy in effect for 12-18 months before you get pregnant. Look into getting a High Deductible Health Plan and open an HSA. That way, you can put the money away to cover your health needs and take advantage of the tax benefits too!
The other option is to just pay cash for the pregnancy--most OB's and hospitals have cash rates and if you compare the costs in premiums to the cash rate, you may come out ahead. The bonus is if you have complications or sick baby (heaven forbid!) your insurance will cover that! |

I think it's good to compare different plans and they can do that based on your zip code so you find what works for you and your family. It is good you are all healthy but you may find something with a lower deductible or that will have a better prescription plan just in case you get something that has expensive antibiotics or the meds are high.
Also the participating doctors vary according to plans and some can be out of network (which I think BC still covers by a lesser percentage).

You should qualify for a private health insurance plan, based on your health history. A good way to find the best plan for you is to go to http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?Ref... A local agent will contact you and give you information on the local companies and plans in your area. This should be a great way to get started. Good luck! |
