OK but Churchill are good. Depends on your circumstances really. |

I was with them for years and they were excellent.
Cheaper if you deal with them direct and not through an agent. |

I was with these a few years ago but they got to be a bit expensive, I now use a price comparison site to enter all my details and save myself a fortune. |

i would strongly reccommend avoiding like the plague!!!!!!
when my car was written off by someone last year it took 10 MONTHS for them to pay up.........i got pregnant and had a baby in that time!!! the service was appalling. when you first buy insurance they are in uk but claims line is in india, they dont undertstand you and they just transfer you round, i had constant calls form my finance co for money for the car and NU promised me on numerous occasions that the cheque had been sent, and it never was............they ended up paying an extra £300 interest because it took them so long to pay up. i rang the customer service line to complain (which is uk) and she just transferred me to india without telling me and i went around again.
just switched to post office and saved £200 plus got £50 cash back. result! |

I have been with them for a few years and have just moved, saved £80 on a £300 premium using moneysupermarket.com. I also got piles of junk mail from Norwich Union offering medical insurance and so on, someting every week. If that hadnt been a pain then I might not have changed |

I have been with them. They are not the cheapest (not the dearest either) but I found them OK. I had an accident and they did everything possible to help me.I had a loan car. My car was repaired quickly and efficiently The other drivers insurance co started contacting me as they wanted their clients cost reimbursed by me Norwich Union told me not to worry and they took over all dealings and I heard no more. The only reason I left Norwich Union was that I then had a lease car where the insurance was included by another company. |

I found the initial policy price to be v good, but drastically went up after the initial years introductory rate. Add to this the call centres are foreign, not always a problem, just depends who you talk to. still waiting for a rebate of money they owe but not heard anything, reporting it to the financial obudsman. Steer clear of them!! |

I work there and get a massive discount and I can still get better and cheaper cover elsewhere. Go to AA.com |

I have to say I have been with Norwich union for the last 2 years and I have always found them helpful and still almost £80 a year cheaper than the nearest competitor.
They are also far more flexible in negotiating premium prices than other insurance companies I have dealt with in the past (nothing wrong with a good haggle sometimes!)
I would recommend using an independent online quote to see how the prices stack up to your individual circumstances. Although I would recommend them, that's not to say they would be the cheapest company for your particular circumstances. Try here, worked well for me ;

I had car insurance through the RAC which is part of Aviva who also own Norwich Union. I was in a really bad crash on 10th April 2007 and the way they dealt with my claim was fantastic, everything was so quick and easy and they were really helpful, i had personal accident cover and they paid out for my travel expenses to and from hospital and the contents in my car like my phone that got damaged. They were excellent.
i had a new car within 3 weeks, but haven't had the guts to drive it yet!
The claims line is not in India - it's in Warrington!!!! |

Are you talking about Norwich Union Direct or Norwich Union?
the Direct Arm was set up and is basically living on the reputation of the Broker arm of the business (which provides above average cover and claims service) but offers a dumbed down policy with less cover and more restrictions than the Broker Policy.
At the end of the day you have to decide. If I have a problem with my insurance do I
a) try and deal with it myself.
b) ask on forums such as this what I should do (and a lot of this advice is **** or refers to American Insurance)
c) Have a professional insurance intermediary act for me?
Only a fool or an expert buys insurance online. |
