Usually, insurers want the name, address and SSN of beneficiaries to make positive identification. It is up to the policy owner, not the beneficiary, to keep the insurance company informed of any changes. |

For the company I work for - when I sell a life insurance policy I simply need the full name of the beneficiary, relationship to the insured, date of birth and SSN. The SSN is used to identify that the correct person is being paid benefits later. You should not need to give any other info to the insurance company. The insured can remove you at any time and change the beneficiary so it is up to them to keep their policy current. Usually, they will have an estate handler of a lawyer who is made aware of you and another others who should receive benefits.

It's up to them to update your last name and address, regularly.
The insurance company doesn't find you - they don't even know when the insured is deceased. Usually, it's up to the beneficiary or the executor of the estate, to file the claim. Ask them who their estate executor is, and how to contact them, and just make sure they know where you are. |

The insurance company will need the prove of your name, address, age and all the necessary documents as you are the beneficiary of someone's life insurance. Keep those documents ready to get the sum.
