I've got into a car accident!?
and i was so stunded that i forgot to
write down his license #
he gave me his business card but i didn't ask his name!
but i have his car plate # and his insurance name and his insurance agents name..
is there any way to find this guy and track him down?[ it was a small accident no police involved]

sweetiepi
if you have his card then his name and phone number should be on it

bbumple
1. Call him, the number on the business card.
2. Call his agent, tell them what happened and give them the policy # he provided you with.
3. Contact the police dept. in the town where the accident happened and give them all of the info you have.
4. Contact your insurance company, if you are relucant to file a claim then you can handle this on your own and just notify your insurance company but tell them you want to resolve this on your own. This will allow them to investigate the accident, but should cause your premium to go up because they won't be paying anything.
5. You should be speaking with an adjuster from the other guy's company and they should send an appraisor, or if it is real minor just have you get an estimate and make payment based on this estimate.

Hope this helps.

I would call the number on his business card. If no luck there call his agent to file a claim and find out the specific insurance information. The agent might be able to help you because it is likely the guy has already been in contact with his insurance. My guess is that you are not wanting to go through your insurance and that is why you are posting this question. I worked claims for many years and we would pay claims without a police report. I would file a report if there becomes an issue of his insurance company existing. Since the report would be a walk-in report it would only benefit if you were having trouble tracking the guy down and then, to be honest the police aren't going to do that much anyhow. If you are unable to track him down and the police report does not produce anything you might need to resort to filing with your company.

Good luck with the detective work

You can give the info to your insurance company and let them handle it.

You can call to report it to the police & give them the info and see if they can help you.

You can call the number on his business card, describe his car & give lic. plate and see if they can help you.

You can call his ins co and give them info from bus card and see if that will help.

The police will help

You really dont need the drivers info, as long as you have the info on the vehicle he was driving, make/plate #/color..if for any reason the driver is not insured, you will need this info for your insurance company and the police.

I would simply report it to his insurance carrier, there is no need to contact the other party further in this, most people would prefer you not contact them directly. His insurance carrier will confirm if there are any disputes in the facts of the loss, and take it from there..if it is a disputed loss, then you may need to get your carrier involved. Also, depending on the state you live in, any minor injuries (or any injury at all in limited # of states) will need to be pursued through your insurance carrier.

By definition, most insurance companies require you to notify them anytime you are in a loss, regardless of fault, how minor, whatever. It is a good idea as this protects you in the event the other driver denies involvement, states you were at fault or whatever...simply filing a claim will not effect your rates. All major carriers now use CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) reports, by equifax (those wonderful credit reporting people).even if you are with company a, and a driver from company b rear ends you and you report it to company b only...company a will find out about it courtesy of CLUE from company b.

You don't need to track anyone down. Your options are to either go to the police department in which the accident took place and fill out an accident report, and/or contact your insurance company and report what you have to them. Tracking, if tracking is necessary, is done by others authorized access to that information.

You don't need to track HIM down, you only need to call his insurance company and tell them he handed you a business card, but didn't tell you his name. They'll take it from there.

onewikkedwoman
You will need to file an accident report. The insurance companies won't pay unless there is a police report. As for finding out the other person's information, the police & insurance companies will handle that part. I highly recommend that if you are in an accident again, be sure to call the police no matter how minor the accident seems. It will save you money in the long run. Good Luck!
