You need to get your NI number to get a job in the UK, it is produced at your birth and sent to you automatically just before your 16th birthday when you are legally availble for employment.

i don think you get your NI number until 16. There are laws around employing under 16s so they will need to know. It may not be a deal-breaker, but if you dont give NI numbers and such you may be on emergency tax for ages (which you dont want to be on). |

Well, if you have to produce your passport, your date of birth is on that. But no-one's National Insurance Number is on a passport, anyway.
You are still allowed to earn £5435 a year (period 6th April - 5th April) before you have to pay tax. That goes up to £6035 in September, when it becomes retrospective back to April 6th. Employer should ask you to sign form P46 to say that this is your only or main job, and tax position should be correct from the start if he knows it's your first job. Employer can use temporary National Insurance number, which will look like TN010101F. That is: temporary number: date of birth: female: (or M for male). HMRC won't use this. Their temporary number looks like 88Q88888. Computer throws them up when your record is being set up. |

You cannot get a NI number until you are 16. Employers will not ask for your age or date of birth on application forms anymore, because of the new age discrimination laws.
To be honest, all you can do is wait another year. I know this seems like an age at your age (please don't think I'm being patronising. I'm not). At 15 years old, there are other more suitable jobs for you (paper round, babysitting, car washing).
Please, please, please wait until you are 16 (or even longer if you decide to stay on in full-time education). You have a whole lifetime ahead of you and, I PROMISE you, you will get so many excellent opportunities in life.
You seem like the sort of person who is determined to succedd and work hard to achieve your goals. With this attitude, you WILL succeed. Just be patient. The good time will arrive!

As others have siad, you don't get your NI number until you are 16. This is because you are not liable to pay NIC until you are 16. You need to inform prospective employers that you are only 15 and therefore do not have an NI number. There are other ways of proving your eligibility to work in the Uk and your employer should have a list of acceptable documents. |
