If you have just left your old job, you should be able to get health insurance under your old employer for up to 18 months under COBRA. The premiums may be hgher but I would do that and keep health insurance till your new insurance kicks in. THat way there also can't be any waiting period for your new insurance to cover a claim b/c they can only make that claim if you let your health insurance lapse. Good luck.

ACK! Did you avail yourself of the COBRA option, where you pay the full premium for your health insurance when you leave your employer ?

Check with the HR department of your former employer to find out if you have any option left to take the COBRA program.

Check with your former employer about COBRA - this would allow you to stay on their insurance until your new insurance kicks in. You'd have to pay for it, but it's still almost always cheaper than an individual policy.

Good luck.

Can u get cobra?

I don't know how it works in your state, but in most places an employer has to offer to renew your group insurance even after you leave their company. Working in an office in Louisiana, we have 3 former employees that have chosen to stay on our COBRA group insurance since they left our employment 2 years ago. They still send checks to our office in order to pay their health insurance premium. I advise that you call human resources or your former manager to ask them about it. Legally, they may have to offer to renew you on that policy effective 8/6. Just because you have left their employment does not mean that you have to have a lapse in your health coverage (because nothing could make your life harder than a lapse).

OK, this is serious. You're going to have to sign up for the COBRA coverage with your current employer, or pay cash. I'm sure the Cobra is expensive, but trust me, paying cash is even MORE expensive, even if it's all a false alarm and all you end up with is a buncha testing.
