You're young, you don't have kids, take on a second job for a few years! Maybe you'll luck out, and that second job will even offer you health insurance, so that this doesn't happen AGAIN! |

I guess I would look at a couple of things. If you are really broke and qualify for Medicaid, they may pick up past bills.
Second..talk to the hospital, surgery center and explain you will send in a monthly payment. If you guys can agree on a payment plan, then try to stick to it.
Third, maybe your place of worship, workplace, school, etc. will help with a fundraiser or something. Ask some friends to check it out for you. |

Help with what?
ADDITION: OIC...Hospitals understand that many people don't have that kind of ready money. You can call the billing department of the hospital and let them know of your difficulty. Let them know what your financial situation is like and see if they can help you with an affordable repayment plan. Sometimes they are satisfied if you just pay $20 a month until the bill is paid off.
You can talk with your doctor and let him/her know about your financial problems. I had to have surgery when I was about 27 years old and I couldn't afford it. My surgery ended up being paid for by something called a "Doctor's Fund." My case was unusual, which excited the student doctors at the teaching hospital where I had the surgery.
You can also talk with your Church or the Salvation Army.
If you live in a small town, maybe someone will hold a fund raiser in your honor to help pay the hospital bills. Something like a BBQ?
Good luck! I hope you recover quickly and feel better soon. |
