To make sure you are healthy, and not hiding any pre-existing conditions that could contribute to an early death.
They are happy to take your money each month, but they don't want to have to pay anything out! |

Standard procedure for life insurance. |

Your agent, even if it were an online agent, placed you in a rating tier such as preferred, ultra-preferred, etc. based on the information that you provided during the application process. Your premium is based on the tier that you qualify for. The blood, urine and other tests are used to determine if the tier that you were quoted in is the actual one that you qualify for. If you qualify for a better tier, most reputable insurance companies will give you the better rate. If you don't qualify for the tier thay you were quoted in, they will offer a policy for either a lower face amount or a higher premium.
There are agents in the life insurance marketplace that quote everyone at the lowest possible rate and then try to sell the client on the higher premium when it is offered. (Only about 2% of the general population qualifies for the best tier.) Good, honest and reputable agents will attempt to pre-qualify you and quote you in the tier that their experience tells them that you will qualify for; but, there are no quarantees. Something can show up in the tests that even you did not know about.
FYI, there are non-medical insurance policies that are available. Those are normally offered based on "standard" rates--not preferred or ultra-preferred and can be issued with nicotine and/or non-nicotine use. They are not "guaranteed issue" policies, but if you do have minor health issues that are controlled with medication (hypertension, cholesterol, etc.) you can usually qualify for the standard rate. There are also "guaranteed issue" life policies for those who do not wish to answer any health related questions. They do have strict limitations on benefit amount, etc. |

To make sure you aren't taking out a huge policy because you know you have a terminal illness. |

They want to be sure you don't have any illnesses now such as diabetes, cancer or kidney disease. |

They did the same thing to me too and I was only 28 at the time. They do that to ensure that you are healthy and they are looking for reasons to charge you more or to find reasons why they should not insure you, such as being a smoker. They can identify that stuff in your urine. |

to make sure that you aren't a drug user or have a disease that might cause death sometimes before the policy is up. make sure you are getting a term life policy and not whole life, whole life is a rip-off. it's standard for life insurance companies to do that--they have to make sure you are insurable. |

The policy isn't set in stone yet. They have to see what the premium will be based on those results. They are looking for certain deseases or illnesses before they quote you a final monthly cost. Very normal prcedure. |

They are checking you for diabetes, cholesterol level, aids, etc - stuff that might ALREADY be wrong with you. |

So they can make sure you haven't bought this policy knowing you were ill.
It is standard procedures, to prove you are a healthy individual. |

to evaluate their risk, are you getting a life insurance policy because you are having health problems? If they insure you for 100k and you pay for 2 years and die they have to shell out 100k for the ??1k?? you paid over the 2 years. They just want a general picture of your health. |

To determine how healthy you are. If you are not healthy, then they may need to offer a different type of insurance or change the monthly/quarterly premium.
Basically, if you are not healthy, or they find that you smoke - then your premiums will be higher. |
