I am not sure if you would qualify. Usually you have to have a dependant child whose father fails to pay child support, have a certain type of disease, or pregnant. If your parent's income isn't that high, then it may be possible since you are a student but you may be getting close to the age limit. Does your graduate program require you to have medical insurance? The reason I ask is because I am entering graduate school in Speech Pathology, and they require you to have health insurance. However, you said your university didn't offer health insurance, but they are usually expensive even if they do. Try to talk to your parents and find a private health insurance. You may be able to get a fairly cheap rate if you go with a plan that just gives you basic coverage. Try someone like Blue Cross because their rates are fairly reasonable. That is who I decided to use. I didn't qualify for medicaid (although I am 29), and I have three children. I am married, and although my husband's job does not offer medical coverage, they denied me.

Depends on what state but most are :

To be eligable you have to have Kids under the age of 18 , or have the approval from SSDI, or be pregnant.

Wow, that's too bad your college doesn't have student health insurance. But, you're young enough that you probably could get a really cheap insurance policy unless you have some pre-existing conditions. Some promote policies for students in your exact situation. Do a google search or call up a local insurance agent. What about asking at school where to get insurance, they must have dealt with this before.

See what programs your state offers. Usually there is information online. If you're "uninsurable" due to pre-existing conditions there is usually a program that covers that. Remember, you can apply for anything, they might turn you down, but you need to try and find out.

Good luck!
