I am a pregnant teen about to deliver and I am on my moms insurance policy.?
Once the baby is born will the hospital bill be cover under her insurance or can the baby be covered under the fathers insurance (he will be on the birth certificate and the baby will have his last name)?

Its highly unlikely that the baby can be added to your mom's insurance plan. (Most employers don't consider grandchildren to be eligible dependents. A few will allow it, if the grandparent is the legal guardian and has custody of the child.)

The baby's father should inquire with his HR department to determine if the baby can be added and what documentation he'll need to provide. (Assuming he's enrolled through his employer, of course.) He should ask about this before the baby is born....he won't be able to submit any paperwork to enroll the baby until after the birth, but at least he'll know what needs to be done ahead of time.

Otherwise, you'll have to inquire about enrolling the baby on Medicaid or other public gov't plans in your state.

the baby could be put on father's policy, but not you

Chances are the baby will be covered only until birth under your mom's insurance unless she adopts the baby. Once the baby is born, the father should be able to produce the birth certificate to his HR and add the baby to his insurance. But he needs to clarify this with his employer prior to the birth, so that there will not be any gap in coverage. Generally, you only have 30 days from birth to add a new dependant.

Well, the baby can't be covered under your mom's policy. If the father has a GROUP plan, he can add the baby to his insurance. If he has an INDIVIDUAL plan, he probably can't add the baby.

The baby can be covard by eaither him or your mother until your 19 if your not inschool.

I'd call the insurance company and talk to them for sure to get answers. I'd also have the baby put on your boyfriends insurance just incase you run out of insurance and the baby will still need it.

You and the baby will be covered under your mom's insurance because you are not married to your bf.
