Check with your homeowner's insurance; check with AAA
(AA or RAC in UK) check with your credit card company - some of them provide insurance if you pay for your trip with the credit card; try Thomas Cook or one of the other major tour operators, or with the travel agency (if you used one)
It's is usually not all that expensive and well worth it if someone gets sick or seriously injured and has to abandon the trip. |

I have just been looking for travel insurance too (but not for a family). The best site I found was moneysupermarket.com
It compares lots of sites and gives you the best prices. I found it was actually cheaper this way than going directly to the insurer's site. And you only have to put your details in once. Just be sure to check what the policy covers and excess in the details link. |

Premiums depend on ages, where you are going, what excess you want, if you need medical cover for terrorism etc, etc
In general the better the cover the more expensive the premium.
Try www.portwood.co.uk for a sample of the policies available through the Broker market - where at least you can get help and someone who can answer any queries youmay have. |
