Congratulations on your pregnancy! Check with your husband- he may have better coverage. |

Go to the local heath department they will help you. They have programs set up for no insurance and low income. They can help you because all doctors appointments are vital to the baby.
Good Luck |

Personally I'd find another doctor. |

"confused" is confused. Medicaid is not available to anyone with their own insurance.
There are many doctors who will not require $1600 up front. Go to another.
If your most immediate need is to confirm that you are pregnant, go to a Planned Parenthood clinic. |

It sounds like you would probably qualify for Gov't help. You need to look into that now. There are also free clinics and County hospitals that you could look into. |

I feel horribly guilty- I live in Australia and the doctor (with the government deductible) only cost me $10 each visit.
I hope everything works out for you and your baby. Good luck with everything.... |

There are many doctors that will allow you to make payments, shop around. All of the doctors I've dealt with allow payments but the entire amount must be paid before the 6th month. This could be why you're having to pay all of it up front.
Why did you wait so long to call the dr?
Also, if you don't qualify for Medicaid, try going to your hospitals clinic. Most of the time they have a sliding scale, where you pay based off of your income. |

Your state probably has a State Medicare program for Mom and babies that will help you. You should contact your State Department of Public Health to see if you qualify.
PS. Do not go for that Maternity Discount program, AHCO. Ripoff! |

For that kind of money, you could pay for all your prenatal care and home delivery with a midwife.
The only place for assistance is welfare health insurance, under your state children's health insurance plan. Their income guidelines are MUCH more lenient than regular medicaid.
Besides that, it's really going to be your church and family. |
