My mom sells insurance for state farm (as an employee, not an actual agent)... she has an associates degree in business, but didn't need it. My recommendation is to get a job with an insurance company near you with the agreement that they will pay for your classes and exams (most will do this happily) and you agree to work for them for a set amount of time (or indefinitely, if you enjoy it there)... thus, you have your schooling paid for (only takes about a month for each license.) Just be prepared to sell, sell, sell- the more you sell, the more kick backs you get, and the more likely the company will be to keep you. I know my mom loves it (she hates her boss, but loves selling insurance).. Best of both worlds.
Hope that helps! |

good thinking get ur feet wet soon like mabee take a part time job with an insurance agent or underwriter. im in texas and here many begin as workers in an Agent's insurance business then after they learn quite a bit (enough to keep u busy and not struggle) they take state exams and get their license as an insurance Agent. MY uncle is an agent and does quite well for herself not to mention my aunt is is a real estate agent. They kinda go hand in hand. They have done very well for themselves. Good luck and dont give up. |

First see if it is something you really want to do. Sales is very competetive. If you do decide to do it, I would try to get a job at Aon, Marsh, or Gallagher as they are the largest agencies.
Also, Try to get into selling commercial insurance. Commissions are way bigger on the commerical end.
It's very comptetetive and you have to deal with alot of BS.
It also takes a few years before you build a book of business and start making good money... assuming you are good.
Good luck! |

There are alot of other jobs in insurance besides just sales. Although it is usally where people start. It is a good business but you have to be outgoing and a detail oriented person. If I were you I would go to agencies in your area and explain that you are looking for a part time job while you are in school with the hope that it will go full time after you are done. Make sure it is a large agency as you will be able to switch to different jobs or departments to see what you like to do.
Other jobs in insurance are risk management, accounting, IT, marketing, claims and many others. There are people in insurance agencies and companies that have their law degree and some have their medical degree.
I have been doing it for 25 years and find it a very interesting job. |

Noooooo. Don't get into that insurance thing, it takes too much work and you'll be bugging all your friends. They take anyone even with a high school degree.
Start working in a real office where you can apply your degree. |
