He probably did not have Workers comp coverage.
Maybe the policy lapsed or he didn't have it to start with.
I would call your States dept of Work force development Workers Comp div and report this. See what they can find out for you. If this fails Hire an Attorney. ASAP |

You need to hire an attorney ASAP. Employers are responsible for having workmans compensation insurance. If he did not have it, he could get in serious trouble. Look for a personal injury attorney. To find one, go to your state's Bar Association website. |

Get yourself a lawyer right now. There are lawyers out there that don't get paid unless you get a settlement, and don't cost a cent upfront. They will be able to find the guy, there will be records of his business license (if he had one) or lease of the property.
Don't wait. The longer you wait, the less of a chance they will be able to help you. |

First, contact your local Dept of Insurance and let them know you had a W/C injury and the details of the matter and file a complaint. Then contact the state department of labor and let them know what has happened. You will also want to report him to the Better Business Bureau. Then, if you do not get any results, hire an attorney. Good luck........the guy sounds like a jerk to me, not a nice guy if he is leaving you with the medical bills and not helping at all. |

Look in your local yellow pages for a lawyer that specialize in workers compensation cases. Your Private insurance will not pay the bill if it is workers comp or if you are suing someone.
Forget him being very nice, it is obvious that the owner pushed his lucky, and not he is running scared. Did he have the health department permit posted in the cafe? He is have the Franchise Tax Board Permit posted? |
