I think what you are saying is that because of the water claim the company is cancelling your insurance at the renewal on December 5th. Call your agent and ask why it is being cancelled. Was there other claims besides this claim? When they inspected the building was it in good shape? If the building is in bad shape the company may cancel due to the maintenance of the building. There are numerous reasons why it could be cancelled. Call your agent and find out why.

The company does have the right to cancel a policy at renewal so long as they comply with state laws and send a cancellation notice.

The company is completely within their rights to cancel your coverage, but don't look at this as a bad thing.

The solution is simple....you can get new coverage pretty much immediately through another insurer.

This is your chance to shop around for a better deal with a better insurer and possible get a better rate.

You have almost three weeks and you can get new coverage in a day. Once you find a new company, you just pay some of the premium and you'll get a 'binder' which grants you immediate coverage temporarily until you receive the policy documents at which time you'll again be fully insured.

Does that mean you never repaired the damage? You clearly need to shop out the insurance on this. If you have unrepaired damage, you need to either have a contractor lined up, UNDER CONTRACT, to make the repairs, along with an estimated completion date, or you probably wont' find anyone else willing to insure a building that's already damaged.

If the water damage happened before your policy expired you should still be able to make the claim. I got into a car accident and then three days later my car insurance expired. The insurance paid for the damage because at the time of the accident my vehicle was covered under their policy.

You should probably call the insurance company and talk to a supervisor in the customer service department. Tell them look I got flood insurance on my storage unit so if anything happened to it I wouldn't lose all my stuff. At the time the storage unit got flooded I was covered by your policy, therefore your company needs to do what it was paid to do and insure my belongings. If that doesn't work get an attorney and sue the insurance company for breach of contract.
