No matter how long it takes to settle, don't sign anything and get an Attorney! A few years ago i was rear-ended at a red light and my mom and i were both injured, i ended up with really really bad whiplash, my mom has had several surgeries, and my car was totaled and i am still waiting for compensation! The person that was as fault is responsible for their actions and their insurance company will try anything to get out of paying any more than they have to! Trust me i know from experience...even if it takes a few years, at least you won't get ripped off and it depends on how long your accident was you still could have something seriously wrong and not know it! My mom and i both still have really bad pain and it has been a while. Don't let them cheat you because in the long run you will pay for someone else's mistake anyway..."pain and suffering". Also the attorney you get it could get expensive if you get one on an hourly rate, if you get one on a percent usually you can get one that you will only have to pay only if they get you a settlement...makes them work harder!! Hope everything works out for you!!! |

It depends on whether or not a claim is being processed with the other party's insurance company. If the claim is filed and the other party is not trying to fight you (i.e. admitting fault) your insurance company is now your friend. They will seek compensation from the other insurance compant. If you are afraid your company isn't doing all it can to protect your interests, consider hiring a Public Adjuster. Don't lawyer-up unless the other party is fighting you or the insurance company is telling you not to expect to recover.
Don't listen to L in Ohio. You know if your case is frivolous or not. |
