I have Medicaid health insurance(haven't used it yet), but read somewhere that it doesn't cover much? Do you know of any affordable health insurance I can also get-don't have much money. Some people get confused over whether they have Medicaid or Medicare. Medicaid is welfare from the state for very low or no income persons, Medicare, sometimes referred to as the red, white, and blue card, you get automatically when you attain age 65 or if you are disabled, you get in your 25th month of disability. I think you must have Medicare and you absolutely need a supplement and Part D to go with it. If you do have Medicaid then you don't need anything to go with it and you couldn't possibly afford to pay for it anyway. Take out your card and look at it it will say Medicare or Department of Community Affairs, you will know then. Best wishes. |

First of all how old are you? Secondly, are you physically capable of working. And thirdly, yes you can have a second insurance while on Medicaid, but Medicaid will become secondary to the other insurance. With Medicaid the State is paying the bill, therefore if you have another health insurance, they will make the first one pay whatever percentage they will, and then pick up the majority of what is left over. Sometimes all of it. But...and I don't mean to sound harsh, if you are not disabled in any way, and not a senior citizen, I would suggest getting a job and getting health benefits through them. A much better route to take if possible. |

first find out what kind of medicaid you have some do cover 100% but if your does not call the most popular insurance in your area humana in my town is great when it comes to enrolling your medicaid under it let me know what happens. p.s most of the time when you do enroll you medicaid or medicare under a second insurance you don't have to pay. |

you dont.... you can. but they will bill your medicaid first and what they wont pay your other insurance will (hopefully) pay for. or vice versa.
but, medicaid pays for what you NEED. which is good. But not great...Beware medicaid kind of sucks... I was supposed to have it for another three years, but they just took it away!!!!
My medication comes to an outrageous amount (it's more than I make in two months for a month supply!) Make sure when you make an appointment you ask if they take medicaid.... some places dont and you will be stuck with the bill. |

What medicaid covers, varies wildly based on what state you are in.
And if you qualify for Medicaid, likely you can't afford any other type of health insurance. If you DO have it, usually the Medicaid becomes secondary. |
