Your freeholder should've told you there was a leak - so you could get it repaired....if the dishwasher is yours & you're responsible..
unless it is THEIR dishwasher - then they should've repaired it before it damaged your floor.
SO EITHER WAY - Yes - sue away! They should contact you of any repairs that need to be done before it causes more damage! |

You will have to see the terms of your insurance cover, i doubt if it covers contents. I think you would need separate cover for electrical goods and damage caused by them |

your insurance company is wrong, the building insurance only covers the price it would cost to rebuild the house if it is seriously damaged, if windows have been smahed, or the roof has had storm damage. |

Sure you can sue, but you likely won't be able to collect.
Also, that building insurance isn't going to pay for your leaky dishwasher, that's been leaking over time and you haven't bothered to get repaired.
Insurance is for sudden things that go wrong. You need to fix your dishwasher, or replace it, and fix your own flooring before the wood underneath rots away and you land in your neighbor's kitchen underneath.
And rot isn't covered by insurance, either - because it's a sign of NEGLECT. |
