You have to provide workers comp for the employees. If you are a sole prop, you do not have to cover yourself. If you are a corp, then you cover all employees, including the owner of the corp.
Some states allow the owners of the corp to "opt out" of workers comp insurance - you'll have to check with a local agent to see if SC lets you do that.
